Battle of the Books (BOB) is a diocesan-wide competition for 7th and 8th graders. The students will read books throughout the school year from a pre-selected list of 84 titles in preparation for a quiz-style competition. We will divide the list of books between team members. The titles are chosen by librarians in the diocese. The books are often award-winners, Newbery or otherwise. The competition is held on a weekday after school in March with all competing schools in attendance. Our BOB team at St. Agatha will be meeting during lunch on Thursdays throughout the school year. The students will bring his or her lunch into the library and then may go out to recess. BOB Competition Information

Middle school students unleash their imaginations in creative writing class, crafting original stories and personal narratives that bring their voices to life. This elective class is taught by Middle School ELA teacher, Mrs. Adamsky.
This is an elective class where students will focus on the growth mindset by learning that they can get smarter and better at things with effort and practice. The elective begins by explaining the difference between a fixed mindset, where people think they can't improve, and a growth mindset, where they believe they can grow and learn. Students explore examples of people who succeeded by not giving up when things were hard. They participate in activities like writing about their own challenges and solving problems together, learning how to use phrases like "I can't do this yet" to stay positive. By the end of the course, students understand how to approach challenges with a positive attitude and a belief that they can improve through hard work. Taught by Mrs. Gutridge
