Kindergarten - Second Grade (Primary):

• Students are taught by a teacher and an instructional aide.
• Students experience a self-contained classroom environment focused on religion, reading, writing, science, social studies, math, art, and music.
• Students have Spanish instruction once a week.
• The Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion are received for the first time in second grade.

Third – Fifth Grades (Intermediate):

• Students experience direct instruction, class discussion, cooperative learning groups and individual instruction.
• Projects and activities are utilized in each subject to allow the students to further develop and strengthen their skills and independence.
• Starting in fourth grade students have Spanish two times each week and a special activities period during which students participate in a variety of enrichment activities.

Sixth – Eighth Grades (Middle School):

• Students have Latin every day.
• TerraNova results of 90% or greater qualifies eighth grade students to take Algebra I.
• While the middle school is located in a separate wing of the school, there are frequent opportunities for the students to interact with the lower grades through “ buddy programs .” This fosters responsibility and encourages our middle school students to serve as role models and leaders.
• Students in eighth grade receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Freckle Math for Kindergarten – Eighth Grades:

• All students participate in the accelerated math program called Freckle Math.
• This is a technology based practice of math concepts and applications at an individual pace which enhances mastery scores on the quarterly math assessment test called STAR-MATH.
• We provide the technology and classroom time, but also encourage students to include accelerated math as homework to consistently work on math concepts and applications. Students are provided computer access from home computers to accomplish homework.

The Saint Agatha School curriculum is founded upon the Diocese of Columbus Course of Study and Ohio’s Learning Standards. The curriculum is also driven by the individual readiness, interests and learning capabilities of each student to maximize Learning, Living, and Thriving in Faith.

Instruction is student-centered through whole class, small group and individual learning experiences. All students K-8 receive instruction in all subjects including religion, music, computer science, foreign language and physical education by licensed specialists.
